Reading opens the door to your child’s early academic success, imparts a love of learning and leads to higher grades in every subject. Studies show that if children do well with phonemic awareness skills at a younger age they continue to receive high scores and were found to be stronger readers in the following grades. (Bramlett & Gilbertson 1998) Studies show that these phonemic awareness skills significantly accelerate a child’s subsequent reading and writing achievement. (Swank 1994). Do you want your child to have the best trajectory they can have in their learning?
Early readers have more confidence. Children who can read earlier have the opportunity to relate to their peers on a more confident, more competent level as they are already being recognized for their superior accomplishments. These experiences increase social status among peers and increase self-confidence. Wouldn’t you want to give your child a less anxious, more positive school experience?
Regular preschool is $150-$300/month depending on where you live. Lil’ Learning Lab is a fraction of the cost. You will have more money to put towards healthy food, enriching social opportunities, and family recreation. In times of uncertainty, a smaller monthly financial commitment to preschool will certainly bring more peace to your home. Also, many reading programs are just that- you teaching your child to read. This program comprises a trusted teacher teaching reading, writing, math, science and social studies with you as a reinforcer, not the principal teacher. It is of much greater value to you than a program that delivers on one subject.
